power management system

Electrical control cabinet. Electrical power. Motor control. Temperature control.

The power management system autonomously takes care of load-shedding  in regard to the existing gas powered generator sets (3x 3MW) at the Coca-Cola bottling plant, Nogara, Italy. A total of 33x circuit breakers are automated.

The system facilitates the following:

  • Island Mode:     (Prioritised load-shedding takes place to reduce electrical load on gen-sets)
  • Interruption mode:     (Fixed load-shedding takes place to maintain critical services)
  • Blackout Restore:     (Sequenced recovery process back to mains supply)
  • Load-shedding priority selection
  • Manual CB Operation
  • Data Logging
  • Multi-language support

The centralised Siemens PLC has been configured to exchange data from each sub-station via ProfiNet, with each “outstation” equipped with ET200Sp remote IO. The entire network sits on a device level ring (DLR) governed by managed fibre-optic “Scalance” switches.

A central touch-screen HMI allows the user to visualize the status of the power network in real-time, read alarms and log files, plus has the ability to adjust control modes and set-points.

The entire system was configured in TIA-Portal V14.
